Sure, you like to bitch about hard drinking crackheads who spend your tax dollars on beer and smokes and never do anything to contribute. But did you ever try spending your time with such a person? I have, during the early years on the police beat. And what a ride! But let’s save that for another time.Thanks to the magic of streaming video, you can now peek in on a drug addled welfare lady as she rants, gets naked, chain-smokes and occasionally gets a visit from police. All live and in your face.
Her name is Eva and had her life taken a different fork, she might have been beautiful, an Amy Yasbeck type, perhaps. Now she hangs out in an apartment and has loud conversations with the people who wander into her web neighborhood. They scream at her through the associated web chat and she screams right back. Or giggles and performs to request. Utterly bizarre and absolutely real.
Sweeteva’s webcam can be found here. She tends to arrive after dark and caution should be used because you never know if Eva will be dressed or undressed. Videos of her prosaic but loud antics can be found here. These are safe but you might want to knock the volume back a bit.
The SweetEva sensation is a lesson in sociology. People will grouse that it’s a waste of bandwidth and that it makes a celebrity out of a barely coherent, out-of-work alcoholic who can somehow afford brand smokes, Budweiser and some fine computer equipment. But for a voyeuristic view inside the life of the welfare subculture, Sweeteva knocks the shit out of your standard reality show with pre-fabbed participants and scripted dialogue.

As a fan of SweetEva I would like to clear up a few things. First of all she is NOT on welfare. Her husband Mike works and supports her. She is also NOT a crackhead or methhead (has never “seen meth”). She is a self admitted alcoholic who is suffering from liver and lung disease which is why she is so thin. She is too weak to work although she had many careers in the past. She served her country in the Navy, was stationed in Japan, and and can speak 7 languages (i.e. not the stereotype you painted) Watching Eve is like wathcing a soap opera/train wreck that is very funny at times and very sad at times.

You are right when you say that she “rocks the shit out of the standard reality shows” With Eva its all real and unscripted

You said in your blog that Eva’s conversation are pre-scripted. Trust me, as I know Eva as well as anyone since I visit her “room” daily and talk to her on the phone at least twice a week, they are NOT scripted one bit. I can understand how you could think they are but Eva’s mind is not capable of scripting her chat, nor would she be capable of learning. She’s been on the computer for almost 3 years and don’t know how to type in a website, she can only click on her desktop to take her to three different websites, all are cam rooms that she hasn’t gotten banned from yet. I tried to get her to go to Yahoo once and she wasn’t capable of learning how over the phone. What you see is the real Eva and Mike show and although it is beyond bazzar, it is all too real. Its like watching a horrible traffic accident, you just can’t look away for a while. I really feel sorry for her but she asks for what she gets.
