In the spring of 2007, I volunteered to get jolted with a police taser. I bore the pain, lost no bodily fluids and survived with dignity intact.
But what about my sanity?
Ride the Lightning is the story of a reporter who takes a hit from the taser and then finds that he craves electricity like a drug. But is it my story or a work of fiction? Did I see something wonderful out there in the sizzling volts or was it just a five second ride into agony?
