Balls and Strikes
It wouldn’t be nice of me to point out to you people, up here in Red Sox country, that my lowly Royals took two from your Bosox. It wouldn’t be neighborly to say ‘I told you so’ or point out your dwindling lead in that haughty east division. You’ve been through so much already. Instead, here’s a sweet snippet about the nature of debate. Can’t we all get along? Especially now that the Royals smoked you guys.
I mean, come on. They really did.
Royals Manager Buddy Bell ran out to argue with first base umpire Chad Fairchild, who called out Billy Butler on a close play to end the seventh inning. Then “God Bless America” was played over the public address system, so both Bell and Fairchild took off their hats and politely stood alongside each other during the tribute. When the song ended, they resumed their discussion — which by then had lost all intensity.
